There are various tourist attractions in shillong, some are listed below:
Cherrapunjee (Sohra)- It is situated 56 kms from shillong. A pleasant drive to see roaring water falls leaping into deep gorges. This is the wettest place on the earth and receives the highest mm of rainfall. It rains every day in cherrapunjee.
Umiam Lake- Umiam Lake is 17 km from Shillong. It offers various water sport facilities consisting of sailing, water skiing, and fishing.
Golf Course – It is one of the oldest golf courses in India. Shillong golf course is one of the best and the largest golf courses in India.
Shillong peak – It is an extravagant picnic spot just 10 kms from the city which offers a panoramic view of the country side. It is also the highest point in the state at 1965 meters above sea level.

By Air: Guwahati's Borjhar Airport is the nearest international airport which is located at a distance of 128 kilometers from Shillong.
By Rail: Shillong has good network of railways. Guwahati at a distance of 103 kilometers from Shillong.
By Road: The State Transport buses offer good services to the various places in Meghalaya and the neighboring states from Shillong. The bus stand is located in the heart of Shillong.
