Amaravati is a city  in the right centre of the northern border of the Maharashtra State. Amravati means ‘abode of immortals’. Amravati was the capital of Berar which was part of the Mauryan emperor Ashoka's empire. Lying at the Tapi basin, the city's main productions are cotton, jowar and tur (lentil) and oranges. The city is a collection of historical temples of Goddess Amba, Lord Shri Krishna and Shri Venkateshwara.Amravati is also the headquarter of "Amravati Division" which is one of the six divisions of the state of Maharashtra. The other famous historical information is freedom fighter Bhagat Singh was hiding for 3 days in Amravati during his underground freedom operations.

Geography : It has an average elevation of 343 metres and lies 156 km west of Nagpur and expanding toward Badnera, 10 km to the south.Amravati serves as the administrative center of Amravati District and of Amravati Division. Amravati is growing rapidly in terms of living quality.

Tourism :

Ambadevi Temple: Ambadevi Temple is situating in the heart of Amravati city, it is believed that Shri Krishna abducted Rukmini, from this temple, and married her. It is dedicated to goddess Amba. The Melghat and Wan sanctuaries are popular wildlife reserves, mainly famous for the tiger.





Satidham Temple: This temple is situating in the center of the city at Rallies Plot, the temple has beautiful idols of Lord Krishna and Radha, Lord Ram and Sita, Lord Ganesh, Lord Shiva and Rani Satiji. A fair is organized on the occasion of Janmashthami every year.

Shri Bhakti Dham Temple: It is situating at Amravati Badnera Road, the temple has beautiful idols of Lord Krishna and Radha,idol of Shri Sant Jalaram Bappa.

Chatri Talao: It was built is the year 1888, situating 1 km away from Dasturnagar Square on the Malkhed Railway Road on a small spring called ‘Kali Nadi’, This small reservoir is used to supply drinking water to Amravati city. A small garden and boating facility is also available here.

Wadali Talao: It is situating 3 km away from the Amaravati Camp on Chandur Railway Road, it was built for clean and fresh water supply to Amravati Camp. There is a small garden with a zoo here.

Melghat Tiger Reserve: It is located in Chikhaldara and Dharni tehsils of on the Satpuda hill range. It spreads over an area of 1676.93 sq km. It is one of the last remaining habitats of Indian tiger in Maharashtra.

Wan Sanctuary: It is situating at Melghat area of Amravati district at an attitude of 1118m above the sea level.This area is rich in floral and faunal biodiversity. This is one of the coffee-growing areas in Maharashtra.It is full of deep valleys with full of velvet mist and majestic trees. Having a wildlife sanctuary with abundance of wildlife, viewpoints, lakes and waterfalls, it is a very popular summer retreat.

How to reach Amravati

By Air: There is One Flight Daily by Air Deccan between Hyderabad / Vijayawada.

By Rail: There are numerous trains every three hours between Hyderabad / Vijayawda & Guntur & Vice versa.

By Road: There is an excellent Road from Hyderabad to Amaravati. The distance between Hyderabad and Amaravati can be covered in 7 hours.The distance from Guntar to Amaravati is 35 km, from Vijaywada is 70km and from Hyderabad is 307 km.
