Pachmarhi is a major hill station in Madhya Pradesh state. It is widely known as " Satpura ki Rani" or Queen of Satpura. It is located at a height of 1000 m in a valley of the Satpura Range in Hoshangabad district. Pachmarhi is 45 km from Pipariya . It is believed that Panchmarhi has derived its name from the five caves which provided shelter to the Pandavas, the five brothers of the Hindu epic, Mahabharata. The highest point in the central India region is Dhupgarh at 1100 m is located here. The area was discovered by Captain James Forsyth of the British Army in 1857 Pachmarhi became a hill station and sanatorium for British troops in the Central Provinces of India. The population in 1901 was 3020, rising to double that number in the hot summer months. Pachmarhi also served as the summer capital for the Central Provinces. The forest around the town is home to many rare varieties of plants

Satpura National Park: Satpura National Park is developed in 1981 cover total area of 524 sq km . It spreads through dense forest of evergreen sal, teak and bamboo. The high peaks of Dhoopgarh and Mahadeo, Bori's legendary teak and bamboo forests, Pachmarhi's fascinating natural beauty of deep valleys, high mountains, rivulets, waterfalls and Tawa's vast reservoir combine to give this park unique beauty and a breathtaking variety of attractions. The park is home to the bison, tiger, Leopard, bear, four-horned deer, blue-bull and a rich variety of birds

Pandav Caves Panchmarhi :The Pandav Caves are one of the most important and significant among the monuments and museums in Panchmarhi . The Pandav Caves are yet another instance of folklore and myth ttriumphing over scientific findings. The Pandav connection definitely places Panchmarhi on a plain higher than other places around and denying that connection would mean robbing the place of its assumed glory and therefore are being continuously and carefully nurtured over the generations.

Bee Falls Panchmarhi : It is very famous falls and the view that one has of the place from Sunset point . It is situated in a place that dates back to the time of the Mahabharatas .There are a lot of Water Falls in Panchmarhi but Bee Falls Panchmarhi is the most accessible one. It is just 10 mins walk from Apsara Bihar. The fall is about 50 and is shaded beautifully. The nearby place has scenic beauty and in trees squirrels play on the branches and various kinds of birds provide soothing music.

The Chauragarh Shrine Panchmarhi is one of the important holy places in Panchmarhi is a 4 km steep climb of 1300 steps from Mahadeo. By Air: Less than 200kms from the capital of Madhya Pradesh, Pachmarhi is easily accessible by air. The domestic airport of Bhopal is connected by regular flights to the rest of the country.

By Rail: The nearest railhead Pipariya is just 47 kms away from Pachmarhi. Pipariya is regularly served by trains from important stations.

By Road: Although Pachmarhi is a hill resort, excellent road connection links this little hamlet virtually to any part of the state of Madhya Pradesh. You can reach Pachmarhi from important cities like Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore by surface.
