Ahmedabad is the largest city in the state of Gujarat and one of the largest urban cities in India, with a population of 45 lakhs (4.5 million). Located on the banks of the River Sabarmati, the city is the administrative centre of Ahmedabad district and was the capital of Gujarat from 1960 to 1970; the capital was shifted to Gandhinagar thereafter. Somnath temple- The Somnath temple stands tall among all the temples of India. The construction of the temple in Junagadh began in 1950. It is the seventh temple built to enhance the glory of Lord Somnath.

The tourist attractions in Ahmedabad are the Jama Masjid of Ahmedabad is one of the biggest and oldest mosques, which is built in this style. Other attractions are Narayan Temple, a Hindu temple enclosed in large courtyard, Ahmed Shah's Mosque,one of the earliest mosques and Raj Babri's Mosque which has shaking minarets.
