Patna - Patna was once known as Patliputra and has been capital of bihar and many other dynasties ruling over bihar. It is one of the oldest capital cities of the world. This is the largest riverside city of the world. The rivers flow adjacent to this city. This city is very important to Hindus and the Sikhs from religious point of view. The tenth and the main Sikh guru were born here. Patna is the oldest surviving cities of India.
Har Mandir sahib – This is a historical place for all the Sikhs as their tenth and the main sikh guru was born here where now a temple has been made in his honor by maharja ranjit singh. Some of his belongings and mportant sikh religious text also lies within the temple.
Gandhi setu – it is the Asia’s longest single roadway bridge which crosses over ganga. Gandhi setu was built to join patna to hajipur.
Golghar: after experiencing the famine in 1770 the British built this huge bee shaped structure to store food grains for the time of emergency. Now this place is only used as a major tourist attraction.
Rajgir -
Being located in a valley it is a very scenic place. The place is covered by lush green forests that add to the places beauty. The name of the city means royalty. Its name is so because it used to be the capital of various kingdoms when patliputra was not even formed. This place is also associated with lord Buddha, he not only spent many years in rajgir but delivered, many sermons here. It is now one of the most important pilgrimage places for tourists interested in Buddhism.
Sanchi stupa:
it is situated on a 400 mtr high hill from the city. The easiest way to reach this spot is by ropeways built by man. On the top of the hill there are four glistening statues of Buddha. This place is also famously known as griddhkoot.
Bodhgaya
Bodhgaya is a place where gautam Buddha attained enlightenment under the world famous bodhi tree. This is believed to be one of the most important religious places for the Buddhists. Bodhgaya is a place where the extravagant mahabodhi temple is situated. Both the temple and the tree are important to the Buddhist sentiments.

How to reach Bihar
By Air: Bihar has an airport in its capital city Patna, which is connected by air with Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Kolkata. Katmandu, the capital of Nepal also has regular flight connection to Patna. Major airlines of India, namely: Indian Airlines, Sahara Airlines operate regular flights to and from Patna.
By Rail: A large number of major and minor places within the state are networked by train services of Indian Railways. Even the state is serviced by important super fast trains like Rajdhani Expressand Shatabdi Express .
By Road: An extensive network of National Highways Nos: 2, 23, 28, 30, 31, and 33 and state highways, running through the state, connect it with important cities all over India.
